Just spent the day with friends watching "Fellowship of the ring" and "The two towers" extended version :)
Tomorrow it's time fore "Return of the king" and later that same night...THE HOBBIT!!!

So 7 hours of movie watching today, 6 hours and 50 minutes tomorrow

It...was...AMAZING!

It might seem weird and maybe not that great that what I was most impressed by was the picture quality. But it really was beyond anything I've ever seen before. People are very much not lying when they say that The Hobbit in 48fps and 3D really makes it feel like you are there, simply amazing! :)
All I wanted to do when the movie started was to talk to my friends right next to me about how freakin beautiful the picture was :P But we only needed one look at eachother nodding as if saying "oh yes I see, wow!" :)

The story/adventure was not something I could complain about either. We got evertyhing from great battle scenes, to so much great amazingly funny humour and feelings of course :)
I could talk hours about all the different scenes and parts of the movie but I know I can't do it here :P
Let's just say that Andy Serkis part is perfect, absolutely perfect!

I just...wow!

The main reason I'm excited to see it is because of the 48fps.. This could be a make or break for the movie industry! It is hard to believe that a few frames can actually make such a difference, but we'll see!

It WILL be, I can promise you that :) "A few frames"? It's double to what we're used to for cryin out loud :P You don't have to be a genius to figure out that it results in a much sharper clearer picture :) You won't be dissapointed :)

I am so stunned still... dunno what to say, haha. There are actually parts i could cirtisise, but the fact I absolutely love the movie and am just so glad that I can go back to see yet unseen parts of middle earth makes me so happy it's aaallll good!

Completely agree with everything you just said
Yes the main scene with Andy was probably the number one highlight in the movie for me. Will be fun to "talk it out" this weekend. If all goes well I'll probably watch it again very soon, maybe this sunday

Saw the movie yesterday (also in hdf3d of course) and was so frikkin' amazed, am still at a loss of words. It was so... beatiful and fantastic. I loved everything, from the actings, lots of backgroundinformation, the implementation of songs and subplots and the design to the use of special effects. With the protagonists having to face multiple main foes the narative seemed to be less linear than in lotr. They really used the freedoms gained through establishing the franchise over the years in a positve way. And yeah, the Gollumscene is truly the great climax of this masterpiece.

There even were a few cuts in some scenes that indicate extensions in the special edition, like when Gandalf holds his monologue about Bilbo, with his back to Galadriel standing some feet away and in the next sequence they're facing each other as she takes his hands. And I expect to see how the dwarves survived being smashed between the clff and the giants knee (when the mountains started to attack each other out of nowhere I thought fuck, where does this trip come from?).

But one thing sucked and that was when they went down the path to Rivendell and the lights went on midsequence and pop music started playing through the ten minute long intermission. That really pissed me of. I wish they would've timed it better and chose suitable music, like songs of the soundtrack. Considering what amazing cinemas they build for all that fancy 3d and IMM 23.1 sound technology that shouldn't be too hard.

The only zhing I have to criticise is the costume design for the elves. I thought they were way more down to earth in lotr, with rawer silks, less ornamenst etc.. yeah I get it, they are aetheric creatures and not down to (middle)earth but like that they look to much like all those computer games figures... too little substance.
kinda sad, and I think Ngila Dickson is one of the few main creators from lotr that isn't working on the hobbit.... don't change a winning team :/
