I would recommend all of those who says they are tired of their jobs etc. to try studying. It's so much more satisfying and stimulating than having a dayjob.

^ But how much money does it give? You kinda need something to live off. At least here, all you get for studying is loans that needs to be paid back. I dont get anything at all, so I need to have a job besides my school.

Each month you get 2700 swedish kronor in subsidy(is that the right word?), but you may also take loans bascially without any interest rate. If so, you get about 11000 kronor each month. Not much, but totally handable.

GRAH! I hate my university!
The Spanish teacher just let us know that this is actually the wrong course and that we have to go to the Spanish Basic 2 course first. But there's no Spanish Basic 2 course in English, so that means, that I definately won't pass that course as it's way to high level or that I will have to work my ass off in order to be able to pass it.
This whole system such so much!
I maybe could to go a course which is held in Finnish, but GRAH!

Jesus Christ, Spanish is really starting to freak me out right now! I really really LOVE the language and I really wanna study and learn it, but I simply hate the way the teacher is just teaching it. It's like...you basically lern nothing at all! I mean, the native Finnish speakers' course is so much more intense. Some of my fellow students also took the Beginners Course last semster and ist was called "Espanjan Perusteet 1" (Spanish Basics 1), I took the "Spanish for Beginners 1' - course. Both courses are 6 credit points. Now I am in a course called "Jatko 1" (Continue 1) it's translated into Beginners 2, BUT my Finnish fellow students are just in "Espanjan Perusteet 2" (Spanish Basics 2). So I am actually missing a complete course and a lot of the fundamental grammar...I mean it's not like that, that this is not important...no NOT AT ALL (caution: being ironic!). And of course there's NO course in this whole fucking university which fills the gab between that "Beginners 1" and that "Jatko" - courses. I mean, there is, but only in Finnish. Next to that, the Finnish students learn SO MUCH MORE and do listening exercises etc. We haven't done a single one. I mean, we sometimes watch little clips but that's about all.
I am really pissed off right now as I am sitting here and try to understand that stupid past tenses and all the shit but it's just not very nice if you are missing a whole course just because your university is obviously not able to make a prober Spanish Schedule of foreign students...
So much about being treated equal!

Going to try to take one of that Spanish courses which are held in Finnish (which I think my Finnish just won't be good enough!) or taking courses from another university next semester....

Sorry I just felt the urge to scream it out!

ughhhh!!! My stupid teacher didn't show up today, she called in sick but never emailed any of the class so we are here and she is not. And we have to stay here and read. Kinda stupid. I've already read all of this stuff so I am just messing around on the Internet haha cool enough I guess.

can you survive in swden on about 5000 sek each month including rent and everything without taking a job? It seems hard to imagine to me... I found out the erasmus program supports internships too so I will head to swden after england hopefully, and I'll have actually a bit more than that, but it still seesm tough considering how Damn expensive sweden is...

That's approximately how much I used to have in Finland (only converted in €)... Maybe a bit more... And I could managed... Barely, but I could manage... Sometimes I asked my family for help if something big needed to be bought... ;)

I guess you can.
I believe the price-level Sweden-Finland is about the same and I get less than that an can survive. Always depends what you wanna do, how much you need for food etc.
I can easily live on 80 € food a month. No problem maybe even less but that would mean like no "extras" like juice, coffee, etc. ;)

I'd say it depends on where in Sweden you're going to study.
I live outside Stockholm (close enough to study there) and my rent is 3400 SEK/month (I live alone & my appartment is 28 square meters).
However, I have friends who live in central Stockholm and pay about as much as I do, but most of them only have a room (12-16 square meters) and they share kitchen.
I know that it's cheaper in some other cities though.
If you are willing to share a room I guess you could survive on 5000 SEK.
Where are you going to study if you go to Sweden?:)

i wouldn't directly study, it would be an internship that is part of my chosen path of education, so basically whereever someone takes me. My first choice would be Stockholm area, 2nd Göteborg, 3rd Malmö/Helsingborg, 4rd wherever else. I don't care really tho, as long as it is sweden. you can ship me 2 meters from the northern border for all I care.
Which is also why I am a little worried (about working and niot studying, not too much tho, decision is made, so is just a matter of "how" not "if" to make it work with the money I have), because I am dependend on maybe expensive materials to buy, maybe commuting, etc. I am highly dependend on working high quality printers, a solid working computer and these things tend to break when you least need it. I have no family I can fall back to for financial help, and I have no savings. I am however very used to strictly restrict myself so I guess I will be fine then :)

5000 sek would be really hard to live on, I'd say, but it's possible. You can get a room in Gothenburg for about 3000 sek. But then there are bus/train tickets, food, house stuff... but I guess if you want to, you can do it.

I would also recommend the site mediejobb.info/ to you, you can find a lot of webdesign/design jobs there if you have experience from working in Photoshop/InDesign. When would this be?

@mrs v.viper Sorry, I just assumed you were going to study since it's so common, there's a lot of exchange students living on the same campus as I.
In Helsingborg you could probably find a room for about 2000-2500 SEK/month if that's where you end up.
It's a beautiful city:) (& my hometown)

Seems as we're doing a project now for America we'll have to work the next weekends, too... :( *searches for motivation* At least this means more money and as long as they won't bother me working the weekend 10.-12.05. I don't really care ;)

I think I already need to come up with a manifesto.

No I will not make a font bigger if it will look shit. You can perfectly read it that way.
If you want me to deliver print data, decide FIRST how you want to print them and not demand me to chnage the profiles six million times afterwards without paying me for it (I will make this a part of my terms of service, lesson learned -.-)
if you cannot print let me do it for you and DO NOT COMPLAIN, my print data was perfectly fine AND I TOLD YOU SIC MILLION TIMES THATH THE PRINTER CAN'T GO TO THE EDGE YOU STUPID IDIOT!

rant over. gha.
Seriously, why do people take us so little serious. You believe your doctor, don't you?!
see. Well we have the EXACT SAME length of study.

that's very sad that there is always this tendency of underrating other's people work.
most of people nowadays are so full of themselves and they think they know it all, so every other, even if it's more qualified, is surely wrong....

i work as a customer service, and i see that everyday! most of the time they don't even know what they're talking about, but well, they're right and you're wrong :/

Arrrghh, found out today that I, besides writing the exam, have to write an essay to pass the statistics course:/ Completely useless things to learn, nobody does those calculations by hand anymore, everybody uses SPSS or similar software. Statistics definately isn't my favourite subject!

It's ridicolous how hard it can be to find a decent place to live in the bigger cities in Sweden.
