That is a really healthy attitude to have. Getting fixated on numbers is a really slippery slope.Laura Victory wrote: @Sheila: I never weight myself as well I indeed just look at how my clothes fit. That says it all in my experience. And I don't want to get fixated on a certain, unrealistic digit.

You are, really? You come across as such a confident person here on the forum! (Although I don't know you really of course, because I have just signed in.) Is it the weight itself or the eating that's causing the paranoia?

Thank you, haha. In real life I'm basically a socially awkward messLaura Victory wrote: You are, really? You come across as such a confident person here on the forum! I think it's the weight and self-image, thing. It's not uncommon I guess.
I'd feel weird to say more than I already have in this thread in public like this, though

To get back on Topic; What did you do when you first realised you wanted to start working out/getting fit? I don't particularly mean like Joining a gym or something, but what was the excercise that really got you hooked?

Okay, cool. It just suprised me. Well, you can also conclude this topic proves that deep down inside there is a strong, confident XiLaii, fighting to get out! :=D
To answer your question: at first I didn't really liked any exercise. Everything just hurt! :=D But I noticed running on the cross trainer was of all the easiest exercise with a very quick result as well. Just put in your earplugs and start stepping up and down until your legs burn and your back is covered in sweat! Body combat and thai bo are a great way of ventilating all yoyur anger and frustration. (In my case at leaast, I was really fed up with my body.) How come: do want to start a bit?

just an example : 1 or 2 months ago my boyfriend has convinced me once to go running : after 10 minutes my reaction was : 'jogging is not for rockers,i prefer to stay in shape just with beer so please stop with that thing'!!
2 weeks ago after checking my weight and find out that i put on 5 kg in the last months, i decided to started going to a gym (not just for the 5kg) but also to be in a better shape! now let's see if it last! not surely doing a long membership at first, because i know myself, i'm able to change my mind very quickly!

I'm completely useless when it comes to sports, especially team sports such as football and basketball.
I have this beer belly for a while now, but as Vale said, would like to remove it through a cigarette and alcohol diet.
In the end it all comes down to me being a lazy fuck, but i intend to take care of that.

I'm not good in swimming (fear of water) nor jumping nor rope climbing and when I run, I usually stop to breathe.

The exception is maybe volleybal – sometimes I found it entertaining. Few months ago, I used to ride a stationary bike three times a week, but I stopped because of lack of time. I like kick box and other martial arts, but I haven't tried them yet.
I should do some kind of excercise, eeeh.... Sometimes I go on a tour with our school turistic club. About one month ago, I must wake up at 6 o'clock (on SATURDAY!) because we went on 26 km long trip... :/

mrs v. viper wrote: This. I honestly hate sports. I was never good at it, in school it was plainly humiliating because i was so bad at it, but I eventually discovered it's the only thing that keeps me sane. I suffered from insomnia pretty bad for while, and it was working out or go on heavy medication.
I still don't work out much because I honestly hate it too much, but when I feel restless or angry or feel like my head explodes any second I go out and run or go rollerblading until I collapse and it really helps.
For going to the gym I have to agree with Xilaii, it would be way to embarrassing, because everyone else would be tons better. It would just be humilation like in school all over again.
I totaly feel the same. Sport at school was humiliating for me, too. Even if I were not such bad. In contrast to you I love sport. I just need something to power out, but like you I like to do it for forgetting everything else and its definitely better then taking medicine. I´ve been through that time too and still sometimes come back to it. That sucks but sometimes Medication save time. Sport always needs a lot of it until I am so worn out that I collapse.
That reminds me that I wanna find some new activity since I had to give up my beloved Hanball T.T. Maybe I should practice rollerskating again, even if it will look damn stupid

- Happy Go Lucky Me :D
Started working out like three months ago. Three times a week gym and three times a week running.
I love how fast one notices results in both strength and "endurance"

Being fueled by a bet between me and my mate. In June next year we'll have a competition and the winner gets a shitload of the best noodle soup that you can get in Sweden

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.

Don't worry, I lose my breath easier/earlier

Yesterday I ran through the park because I needed to catch my bus (it was cold and I ran only in my short dress, not enough time to put on a coat...). I think I lost my lungs there...
