Well, it's not like they disapprove or look down on it, it's just not a regular thing to do. I have a feeling a couple of them would like to be fysically more active themselves, but they just feel ashamed to put themselves in sportswear and work their ass of among all those people who are already slim, fit and buff. We live in a big city with a lot of university students aka very young, fit, attractive, almost model-like guys and girls. I know the feeling, I felt really huge and stupid when I started out working out. I don't know yet what's the exact correlation with their music taste, maybe I just have a lot of metalminded friends!
But anyways; you work out a lot! Three times running and working out in the gym! Good for you! Why so much and how do you keep yourself going? I have difficulty doing body pump three times and body combat twice! :=D

Haha, exactly what I would say...
You know, when you work out hard your brain get's some rest - that's the best part of it. To me, physical excercise is like meditation, or therapy. Finally some peace of mind.
I've done some heavy workout and tried different diets for the last few years and I plan to keep it this way, as I still wanna be able to tour when I'm 70-80!

I've been riding for like 10 years now, and thats a great work out. But since I dont have my own horse, I only ride once a week on lessons. But I am a lot in the stable outside of that, and often run and walk a lot. Since the ponies I take care of is too small for me to ride

The hoolahooping (Im not even sure if its called that? Maybe its rockring? Haha I have no idea) is something I do everyday for like 20 minutes. I really like it, its fun and I can do it while watching tv or whatever. Its also fun to dance

I also try to walk and stuff, but I have to get better on that. Maybe its easier when the summer comes

Well, I actually enjoy it. I think that is the most important thing. It's so so so much easier if it doesn't feel like a must to work out, but that you actually want it.Laura Victory wrote:

Nice to see by the way a lot of you experience a mental advantage as well. I like working out straight after work because it clears up my head after a long day. If I don't work out first, I take home all the shit from work and get very cranky!
Do you set certain goals for yourselves?

This. I honestly hate sports. I was never good at it, in school it was plainly humiliating because i was so bad at it, but I eventually discovered it's the only thing that keeps me sane. I suffered from insomnia pretty bad for while, and it was working out or go on heavy medication.peterlondon wrote: Finally some peace of mind.

For going to the gym I have to agree with Xilaii, it would be way to embarrassing, because everyone else would be tons better. It would just be humilation like in school all over again.

Same here. I'd feel very uncomfortable, like everyone would start laughing at me because I'm not the strongest guy so to say

The only thing I find embarrassed are people who are beginners but struggles with being seen as "professionals", when they load on lots of weights and performe the movement wrong so they hurt themselves instead. That kind of behavior is the only thing that is frowned upon really.

There are also times when you can get help from a instructor the first time you are around, just to feel more comfortable.

That for me would be one of the worst parts, haha. I can't even explain why. I guess it's just super-awkwardness and embarrassment. But I've learned no one is really looking at you, cause as soon as the earpluggs are in, everybody is in his own little world. And even if they do look at you they won't judge you as long as you are enthusiastic and not ashamed of asking for help. Asking for help is really a great way to get in contact with other people at the gym.

No, because I know myself so well that I'm sure I would have messed up. But I am trying to eat just a little healthier, and stay away from the most unhealthy stuff in the week. Like chocolate, cakes and that kind of things. And think a bit about when I eat, and what I eat for dinner and stuff. But I eat candy and other notsohealthythings in the weekend, cause I know I would have done it anyway xDLaura Victory wrote:

As for the weight, I dont really care that much for it. Of course, when I stepped on the weight the other day and saw that I had lost 10 kgs since my highest weight, I got happy. But I would rather see the results on the body than on the weight.

You feel really tired, so really deserve a big sandwich and that nice hot shower feels amazing! Everything feels amazing after you have challenged yourself and you made it! That's the best feeling in the world. And every little worry in your head has been pushed aside for a while while focussing on your body and seems so much easier after that. ( That's why I think working out is medication for both body and mind). And that feeling only gets better after you keep going and you get fitter, stronger and more at ease with yourself.
