I discovered Crashdiet by listening to Reckless Love and finding out that Olli also played with Crashdiet. This led me to look up Crashdiet and now it is an addiction I can't stop listening to them.

Ah, i didn't even know that a thread like this existed...
It's weird sometimes how you completely fall for something but then again can't remember the exact moment when you got to know about those things you end up loving so much..
To me it's pretty much like that with Crashdiet.. I remember that back in 2005 my guitarteacher gave me a cd with many different songs by different bands and of course I ended up liking some and not liking others.. I can't tell anymore what Crashdiet songs were on it but I remember that with this CD I started to listen to Crashdiet.. I didn't think that they were awesome from the very beginning but it absolutely grew to me with time ;) But then again I never really cared about the things going on behind the music and I have no idea how I happened to find out about Dave's death.. Probably someone told me..
So i kept listening to Rest in Sleaze but stopped looking out for new material because I didn't expect any.. When I found out about the new singer and listened to the new CD I was pretty disappointed.. Still can't really tell why but it just never touched me the way RIS did.. So chapter Crashdiet was closed to me altough of course Rest in Sleaze kept playing from time to time .. Just like good CDs always will..
The Generation Wild Album was a real surprise for me as I absolutely didn't know that there was a new singer again but I was impressed because that band just managed to get me again... Never expected that... So some ups and downs in that story but from now on I think I'll go for the ups ^^

I discovered Crashdiet because of my brother.
TUR's songs like "Alone" and "Thrill Me" still remember me how I was feeling at the moment... Around March 2008!

A storm of bad feelings and good memories...
- My ex-girlfriend kicked me a week before I listened to Crashdiet for the first time. ("...I can be the one, alooooone!...")
- Me and my friends where enjoying speed around hidden streets ("Cheating death burning down the hill...")

I was coming from Heavy Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motoerhead) so I became in touch with TUR easily. (But I don't like few songs. I hate "Bound To Be Enslaved" for example).
But RIS blew me away! Songs like "Riot In Everyone", "Out Of Line" and "It's A Miracle" have been staying in my mind since that march 2008.

Anyway, thanxx for this thread!!!

In late 2009 I was looking for some new band. I've always liked bands like Kiss and Europe but also The Police and Pink Floyd. I was looking for a new favourite band. My cousin who also likes glam/sleaze played in a rock band some years ago. So, I checked his Myspace page and under favourite music it stood: Crashdïet. I searched for crashdïet on Youtube and I remember "Riot in Everyone" and "It's a miracle" was the first songs I listen to. From the first time I listen, I felt like wow, what great good looking band!

So, this is my story

- hell yeah sweet serenade
all those fucking chemicals
are running through my brain - SISTER - Drag me to the grave

Year was 2007 or 2008, not sure but anyways I was on Youtube. I quess I was searching for new bands. Somehow I found Riot In Everyone. Gotta say that it was love on first listening! Then I was just thinking "Yeah, how cool is this? Perfect-sounding and -looking band. And a new one". Then I recognized that the singer who had mesmerized my ears, eyes and my heart, wasn't with us anymore. Then I just felt sad..

Rest In Sleaze Dave! We love you, peace to your soul!

Yeah that's the worst huh :/ for us who discovered the band a bit later.. to discover that Dave is gone...
At least we have the photos and videos of him where his charisma shines through :)

It was last year. I was with my brother and he just wanted to show me Riot in everyone's music video. Well, I totally fell in love, when I heard (and saw), and then my brother told me more about this band. I was really interested, so I just listened more, and more, and more.

I think Crashdïet is really important part of my life and it gives me more attitude and keeps me go on. So glad that I finally found it

I'd say my first interest in crashdiet was about 2004 on myspace. Never got the demo, but picked up RIS when it came out and have been a fan ever since.
I do recall reading reviews of the demo back then aswell, possibly on glitzine or sleazeroxx. I remember seeing picture and thinking these guys looked like wrathchild UK, and i was really into lsitening to them at the time.

I was on youtube one day bored out of my mind when I came across "Riot In Everyone". At first I didn't like them. I was more into Motley Crue then anything else at that time so I completly forgot about them.....until a few months later I was on youtube and tired of listening to Motley Crue so I found Riot and listened to the entire song and fell in love. :)
I do really regret dislikeing them (I never hated them I just didn't like them) and I've been a fan since June or July 2 years ago.

i was shown the riot in everyone clip about 4 or 5 years ago by my uncle, i thought to myself back then, "wtf are they doing? why do they look like that?" i didn't get it haha i'm 18 now so around 13 back then. at that time i thought avenged sevenfold and the darkness, althought i was fond of motley, gnr too...were greatest bands ever and completely forgot about crash, then about two years later i had really started getting into older bands more and more, Skid row, ratt, dokken etc and my whole musical taste had completely changed, i couldnt care for new bands anymore cos there were so many older bands that were so much cooler! but i then started to feel surely there are other young people/bands who like this stuff and are making it today? and one day i was just on youtube or myspace and i remembered the name crashdiet, so i looked them up again, by that time it was late 07/early 08 and falling rain was the latest video/single and that song blew me away! so i wanted more, i downloaded what i thought was the album which had falling rain on it, but really it was Rest In Sleaze and that was it, i was hooked, listened to them almost once a day since! ha RIS is probably my favourite album

It feels like almost everyone discovered Crash through Youtube and Riot In Everyone! Wich is pretty awesome, the song is pretty awesome.

The thing about Crash is that they have this 80s cool looks, and their sound, but with a new touch, a rougher touch! The 80s had the best rockbands, but Crashdïet have proved that is still exists bands like that!

YEAH MAN! I've been thinking that too! Crashdïet is having much old 80's stuff, but they recycle it somehow. There's something modern and new, dunno exactly what but there just is. Which is cool, because 100% 80's imitations are so seen.

Honestly, I think it's more than just recycled. But It's kinda hard to put your finger on exactly what it is about them that makes them feel up to date :S

So the question is how I discover CRASHDÏET.
My story is connect with another site called Last.fm But let's start from the begining...
A year ago (maybe more... whatever) I was listening music from the 80s. Few days earlier my friend told me about site which scrobbling my music and it look for other bands - consider my own music taste.. I though: "Okay, I just check it." Few days later I verify band which were propose as my music taste. I saw a new band which has looked like other band from the 80s - it was Reckless Love band. I though it's awesome that nowadays I could find band which are inspired by band from these years. Then I saw another new band - CRASHDÏET. I though they're look great, but I was afraid of their music: "Maybe they're playing music which I don't like", But I had took a risk and checked their music... First song of CRASHDÏET was "In the raw". I was really suprise of kind of music and other things like voices... Next song was "Riot in everyone" - better than first song which I heard - including video: it looks like they're playing in a basement. A mood of song is really riot! (;
After this two songs I verified others - next song was much better than eariler! And then I heard "Generation wild" - my mouth till this time can't shut! Video is awesome! Simon's voice sounds really good! Two months ago I saw a video on YouTube, which topic was "'Generation wild' was banned by Swedish MTV"... I was really suprised, 'cause guys did really great job!

So it's my story... I know that it's not so mysterious or amazing, but I'm proud of it. If this wasn't happen to me till this time I don't know this so great band!

I think it's because they are not so nostalgic as the other bands. I mean many of the young bands, even the really good ones are all about "In the 80s, everything was better. The music was better as well, so we play music like that, maybe with a bit of receycling so it kicks even more ass."

to me, CRASHDIET just play music, and the great 80s bands just are what influeces them because they listen to it, it never seemed to me as if they would be thinking about it much. They are more natural in what they do because they just feel it and don't try to bring a special feeling back.
And that goes hand in hand with how they write music. Party songs, they write them because they party, like native nature. How many of those 80s revival band write party songs because that's what you gotta do when you wanna make kickass music, even when they party alot aswell. same goes for ballads just a bit different I think.

for me, that band always was so special because behind that facade of all the rockstart thing, the glam, the hairspray and studs and all the kickass stuff many of us love so much, there is something real and very down to earth. and something real and down to earth thath isn't that way just because "somewhere we wanna be a bit serious too because let's face it, "Sex, drugs & Rock n roll" after all is only a cliche though a great one", but because it just is there.
I have heard several times from people who don't like them much that they think they come of a little pretentious. Which tarnslatet for me means that people see that, they just don't get it.

Well written Viper!

I agree to what you're saying. They don't try to sound like a 80s metal band, the just do their kind of music, and because of the influence from that kind of bands. They get that sound they have.
But that is the thing, they have that 80s glam sound, with their new rougher style.

You're totally right!
