It's weird sometimes how you completely fall for something but then again can't remember the exact moment when you got to know about those things you end up loving so much..
To me it's pretty much like that with Crashdiet.. I remember that back in 2005 my guitarteacher gave me a cd with many different songs by different bands and of course I ended up liking some and not liking others.. I can't tell anymore what Crashdiet songs were on it but I remember that with this CD I started to listen to Crashdiet.. I didn't think that they were awesome from the very beginning but it absolutely grew to me with time

So i kept listening to Rest in Sleaze but stopped looking out for new material because I didn't expect any.. When I found out about the new singer and listened to the new CD I was pretty disappointed.. Still can't really tell why but it just never touched me the way RIS did.. So chapter Crashdiet was closed to me altough of course Rest in Sleaze kept playing from time to time .. Just like good CDs always will..
The Generation Wild Album was a real surprise for me as I absolutely didn't know that there was a new singer again but I was impressed because that band just managed to get me again... Never expected that... So some ups and downs in that story but from now on I think I'll go for the ups ^^

TUR's songs like "Alone" and "Thrill Me" still remember me how I was feeling at the moment... Around March 2008!
A storm of bad feelings and good memories...
- My ex-girlfriend kicked me a week before I listened to Crashdiet for the first time. ("...I can be the one, alooooone!...")
- Me and my friends where enjoying speed around hidden streets ("Cheating death burning down the hill...")
I was coming from Heavy Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motoerhead) so I became in touch with TUR easily. (But I don't like few songs. I hate "Bound To Be Enslaved" for example).
But RIS blew me away! Songs like "Riot In Everyone", "Out Of Line" and "It's A Miracle" have been staying in my mind since that march 2008.
Anyway, thanxx for this thread!!!

Then I recognized that the singer who had mesmerized my ears, eyes and my heart, wasn't with us anymore. Then I just felt sad..

Yeah that's the worst huh :/ for us who discovered the band a bit later.. to discover that Dave is gone...
At least we have the photos and videos of him where his charisma shines through

I do recall reading reviews of the demo back then aswell, possibly on glitzine or sleazeroxx. I remember seeing picture and thinking these guys looked like wrathchild UK, and i was really into lsitening to them at the time.

The thing about Crash is that they have this 80s cool looks, and their sound, but with a new touch, a rougher touch! The 80s had the best rockbands, but Crashdïet have proved that is still exists bands like that!

YEAH MAN! I've been thinking that too! Crashdïet is having much old 80's stuff, but they recycle it somehow. There's something modern and new, dunno exactly what but there just is. Which is cool, because 100% 80's imitations are so seen.Sleaz wrote: The thing about Crash is that they have this 80s cool looks, and their sound, but with a new touch, a rougher touch! Honestly, I think it's more than just recycled. But It's kinda hard to put your finger on exactly what it is about them that makes them feel up to datethejoel wrote: but they recycle it somehow. There's something modern and new, dunno exactly what but there just is.

My story is connect with another site called Last.fm But let's start from the begining...
A year ago (maybe more... whatever) I was listening music from the 80s. Few days earlier my friend told me about site which scrobbling my music and it look for other bands - consider my own music taste.. I though: "Okay, I just check it." Few days later I verify band which were propose as my music taste. I saw a new band which has looked like other band from the 80s - it was Reckless Love band. I though it's awesome that nowadays I could find band which are inspired by band from these years. Then I saw another new band - CRASHDÏET. I though they're look great, but I was afraid of their music: "Maybe they're playing music which I don't like", But I had took a risk and checked their music... First song of CRASHDÏET was "In the raw". I was really suprise of kind of music and other things like voices... Next song was "Riot in everyone" - better than first song which I heard - including video: it looks like they're playing in a basement. A mood of song is really riot! (;
After this two songs I verified others - next song was much better than eariler! And then I heard "Generation wild" - my mouth till this time can't shut! Video is awesome! Simon's voice sounds really good! Two months ago I saw a video on YouTube, which topic was "'Generation wild' was banned by Swedish MTV"... I was really suprised, 'cause guys did really great job!
So it's my story... I know that it's not so mysterious or amazing, but I'm proud of it. If this wasn't happen to me till this time I don't know this so great band!

to me, CRASHDIET just play music, and the great 80s bands just are what influeces them because they listen to it, it never seemed to me as if they would be thinking about it much. They are more natural in what they do because they just feel it and don't try to bring a special feeling back.
And that goes hand in hand with how they write music. Party songs, they write them because they party, like native nature. How many of those 80s revival band write party songs because that's what you gotta do when you wanna make kickass music, even when they party alot aswell. same goes for ballads just a bit different I think.
for me, that band always was so special because behind that facade of all the rockstart thing, the glam, the hairspray and studs and all the kickass stuff many of us love so much, there is something real and very down to earth. and something real and down to earth thath isn't that way just because "somewhere we wanna be a bit serious too because let's face it, "Sex, drugs & Rock n roll" after all is only a cliche though a great one", but because it just is there.
I have heard several times from people who don't like them much that they think they come of a little pretentious. Which tarnslatet for me means that people see that, they just don't get it.

I agree to what you're saying. They don't try to sound like a 80s metal band, the just do their kind of music, and because of the influence from that kind of bands. They get that sound they have.
But that is the thing, they have that 80s glam sound, with their new rougher style.
You're totally right!
